Privacy Policy

This explains what this site and the Leak Finder collect, why, who else sees it, and how to have it removed. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

Who this is

The Systems Guy is part of Ma'ana, licence CN-4785708, under the laws of the United Arab Emirates. It is the trading name of a marketing systems consultancy run by Tobie Allen, based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In this policy "I" and "we" mean that business, and "you" means anyone visiting this site, taking the Leak Finder or booking a call.

What is collected

Three things, and nothing else.

Analytics. Google Analytics 4 and the Meta Pixel record how the site is used: pages viewed, roughly where in the world you are, what device and browser you are on, how you arrived, and whether you booked a call or clicked the booking or WhatsApp buttons. This is used to understand which parts of the site are working. It is not used to identify you personally, and it is never sold. The Meta Pixel sends this information to Meta, which may use it under its own terms.

Booking details. If you book a discovery call, you give a name, an email address and a phone number, plus anything you choose to write in the form. This is used to hold the call, to send the confirmation and reminders, and to follow up about working together.

Leak Finder details. If you take the Leak Finder and ask for your report, you give an email address, optionally a first name, and your answers, including the numbers you type in about your enquiries and prices. These are used to build your report, to email it to you, and so I can see which areas your report flagged. Your report is made from a link that holds your answers but not your name or email. If you tick the optional box, you also agree to occasional emails from me about my work, and you can unsubscribe or ask to be removed at any time. If you do not tick it, you only get the report you asked for. The Leak Finder runs on its own web address and does not use analytics cookies.

There is no account to create and no payment taken on this site.

Cookies

Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel set cookies to tell repeat visits from new ones and to measure actions. The booking calendar sets its own cookies so it can function. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works fine without them, though the booking calendar may not.

Who else sees it

Only the companies whose tools run this site, and only so those tools can do their job.

Your details are not sold, rented, or passed to anyone for their own marketing. Ever.

How long it is kept

Booking, contact and Leak Finder details are kept for as long as there is a working relationship or a live conversation, and are deleted on request. Analytics data is retained on Google's default schedule for GA4.

Your rights

You can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email the address below and it will be dealt with. There is no form to fill in and no charge.

If you are in the UAE, this is handled in line with Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data. If you are in the UK or EU, the same requests are honoured on the same terms.

Opting out of analytics

You can block Google Analytics with Google's own browser opt-out add-on, block the Meta Pixel with a content blocker, or turn off cookies in your browser. Nothing on this site is withheld from you if you do.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be obvious rather than buried.
